Five Decades of Life-Enhancing Scholarships

Scholarships, Inc. has enjoyed a long and successful history. It began as a dream among a few and has grown to make dreams possible for thousands of Brown and Door county students who were attending a four-year college or university. Through the decades, thousands of donors and volunteers have given generously to our organization. Because of their efforts, we continue to expand and provide more assistance to deserving students.  Highlights of our history include:

1962—Nine Brown County community leaders formed Scholarships, Inc. to financially assist and encourage worthy local high school students to seek higher education. The year’s scholarship awards totaled $7,550 to 16 students.

1994—Thanks to the generous bequest of long-time Door County resident Pearl Noren, Scholarships, Inc. added the Door County program.

2008 – The year’s scholarship awards reach a record $448,000. Since we began, we have given $5.7 million to over 6,600 students.

Today—Scholarships, Inc. continues to award scholarships to students from 13 Brown County and five Door County high schools.  The organization makes the commitment to providing scholarships to students attending Technical Colleges on a full time basis, in addition to our long history of awarding scholarships for students attending four-year institutions.
