Impacting Lives and Our Community
There are many ways to make an impact in our community. We offer a way to help worthy young people reach their dreams of higher education and contribute to a brighter future for the community. Please join us! There is no better gift than the gift of education. With your help, we will continue to "Create a Better Tomorrow through Higher Education". Your work with us promises to be enjoyable, rewarding, and deeply appreciated.
Here are some key ways in which you can become an active volunteer of Scholarships, Inc.:
Standing Committees: With a paid staff of only two full-time employees, much of the organization's work is done through standing committees. A large number of community supporters, with a wide array of interests and expertise, dedicate themselves to the mission of Scholarships, Inc. Current standing committees include:
- Scholarship Committee—Recommends scholarship criteria and guidelines, evaluates changes or additions to scholarship programs, and oversees the selection process.
- Scholarship Selection Committees: Nearly 90 people are needed each year to review scholarship applications and nominate recipients. The time commitment for selection participants is about 10 hours in spring.
- Finance Committee—Responsible for overseeing the investment, setting the budget, and making recommendations to the board on the annual amount of scholarships to be awarded.
- Development Committee—Responsible for building and maintaining membership, attracting major donors, and planning special fund-raising events.
- Special Events: Various events are held to raise funds, recognize special individuals, or promote educational opportunities. Volunteers help organize and run these events, including our annual scholarship award ceremony.
- Public Relations Committee—Responsible for the public image and communicating the missions and activities.
